Detroit came out swinging in this series. After taking Game 1 111-101, the Pistons suddenly look a lot more comfortable in this matchup than people expected heading into the second round. Even with Cleveland looking to bounce back, prediction markets are leaning toward Detroit again for Thursday night.
That says a lot about how Game 1 felt. Cleveland never looked completely outclassed, though the Cavaliers spent most of the night playing uphill because of turnovers, foul trouble, and Detroit's physical defense. Now Game 2 starts carrying real pressure for Cleveland because going home down 0-2 would put them in a pretty rough spot.
Cavaliers vs. Pistons Game 2 Kalshi Prediction Market Prices
Game 2 tips off Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. The game will stream on Amazon Prime. Kalshi's market has already handled more than $700,000 in volume ahead of tipoff. Detroit is currently trading around 61¢ to win Game 2, while Cleveland sits near 41¢ despite still having one of the more talented rosters left in the playoffs.
The margin market points toward another close game. Detroit winning by more than 3.5 points is sitting around 50¢, while the opposite side is trading near 51¢. Traders clearly expect this game to stay competitive for most of the night. The total points market is slightly leaning toward a higher-scoring game than the opener. Contracts tied to over 215.5 total points are trading around 52¢, while the under side sits near 49¢. Team total pricing also shows confidence in both offenses responding. Detroit over 108.5 points is trading around 57¢, while Cleveland over 105.5 points is in the same range.

Detroit's Energy Has Completely Changed the Matchup
The Pistons controlled most of game 1, but Cleveland made a late run before Cade Cunningham took over late in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Pistons. Detroit forced 19 turnovers and constantly made the Cavaliers uncomfortable offensively. Every loose ball and every physical possession seemed to tilt toward Detroit. Cunningham stayed under control all night and did a good job managing the pace offensively.
Tobias Harris also kept his strong postseason stretch rolling. At the same time, Jalen Duren gave Cleveland problems on the glass again, which was encouraging after he had a tough first-round series against the Magic. Ausar Thompson might have been one of the biggest difference-makers, though, because his defensive pressure kept disrupting Cleveland's guards. That balance is what makes Detroit dangerous right now.
Cleveland Has to Settle Things Down
The Cavaliers probably walk away from Game 1 thinking they hurt themselves as much as Detroit hurt them. Cleveland had stretches where the offense looked solid, though mistakes kept piling up at the worst possible times. Jarrett Allen's foul trouble changed a lot around the rim, especially against a Detroit team that keeps attacking downhill.
Donovan Mitchell still created offense, though Cleveland never established a consistent rhythm because possessions kept getting broken up before they could develop. One encouraging sign was Max Strus knocking down perimeter shots and helping stretch Detroit's defense. Cleveland likely needs even more of that in Game 2, because trying to force everything inside against this Pistons defense isn't working consistently.
The Trade Handle Prediction Markets Game 2 Pick
Kalshi's prediction markets are treating Detroit like the steadier team entering Game 2. That does not necessarily mean traders think the Pistons are miles better overall, though there is clearly more confidence in Detroit's current momentum and home-court advantage. The championship market also shows how quickly perception changes in the playoffs. Detroit is now trading around 6¢ to win the NBA title, while Cleveland has dropped closer to 3¢ despite entering the postseason with much bigger expectations.
The biggest thing to watch Thursday night is whether Cleveland can clean up the mistakes. If the Cavaliers protect the ball better and avoid getting dragged into Detroit's style for long stretches, this series could tighten up quickly. If not, the Pistons are suddenly in a position to take complete control before the series even leaves Detroit. Expect this one to be close, but similar to Game 1, we think Cade Cunningham will come up clutch, pushing the Pistons to a Game 2 win.
