Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay prediction markets are favoring the South American nation ahead of their Group H matchup at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Monday.
The matchup pits the source of a new wave of investment in the sports of soccer against the hosts of the first-ever World Cup. Uruguay is a heavy favorite to qualify for the Knockout, while the Saudis are fighting an uphill battle.
The 6:00 p.m. Eastern match can be seen on FS1 and Telemundo or live-streamed via Peacock and Fubo.
Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay Prediction Market Probabilities
Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay prediction market data from leading operator Kalshi shows that the latter has a 67% chance of winning the match. There is a 23% likelihood of a draw, and a 12% chance of Saudi Arabia winning.
Although there haven’t been any extreme jumps, the market has moved more and more in favor of Uruguay. After opening with a 53% chance in February, they steadily rose to their current line of 67%. Saudi Arabia is down from 21% at opening.
While the prediction market data is clear, it would only take one unexpected result to turn this group upside down. Eight of 12 third-place group finishers will still progress to the Knockout, and if Saudi Arabia can manage to steal at least one point, it would put itself in position to be one of those eight.
Saudi Arabia Preview
As Saudi Arabia is still looking to establish itself as a premier destination for players at the club level, its national team is looking to progress out of the Group Stage for only the second time and the first time since 1994.
The Green Falcons drew with Senegal last Tuesday, 0-0, and beat Puerto Rico on June 5, 3-0. They lost four straight matches immediately before that, but they managed to defeat eventual World Cup champion Argentina in the Group Stage of the 2022 competition, 2-1.
Saudi Arabia isn’t dealing with major injuries, but they do have fitness concerns with a couple of players, including Salem Al-Dawsari and Nasser Al-Dawsari. The pair will be closely managed throughout the tournament.
Greek manager Georgios Donis coaches the Saudis to retain possession of the ball, using short passing and an interchangeable midfield to progress downfield. They are also willing to attack down the flanks whenever they force a turnover and their opponent’s defense isn’t set.
Uruguay Preview
Uruguay reached the semifinals in the 2010 World Cup and the quarterfinals in 2018, although it was bounced in the Group Stage in 2022. They head to the North American tournament with dreams of winning their third title and first since 1950.
Unlike nearly every other team at the tournament, Uruguay did not play a tune-up match within the last two weeks. Its last results were both draws against Algeria and England, and it was dominated by the USA last November, 5-1. It did not manage a win against an impressive team since it beat Colombia in Nov. 2024, 3-2.
To add to the country’s struggles, it has an injury crisis in defense. Ronald Araújo was injured during the team’s training camp, and José María Giménez only recently recovered from an ankle injury. Midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta is also expected to miss the Group Stage.
In typical fashion for manager Marcelo Bielsa, Uruguay uses a relentlessly aggressive press high up the pitch with quick passing and bombarding runs down the wings. They rely more on physical dominance than on weaving through its opponents with precision, which can lessen the gap against better teams, but also get them into trouble against opponents with great conditioning.
Top Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay Player Markets
Kalshi’s Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay prediction markets include player prop prices and outcomes.
Uruguay’s Darwin Nunez has the highest probability of scoring at 39%. Saudi Arabia’s Firas Al-Buraikan leads his team with a 12% chance.
Nunez is also the match leader in assist probability (21%), while Al-Dawsari leads Saudi Arabia at 5%.
Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay Trade Handle Pick
There is a stark contrast in the way that the two teams want to approach the game. Saudi Arabia is more about getting its foot on the ball and maintaining possession, while Uruguay wants to run their opponent off the ball in as little time as possible.
Uruguay has better players on its roster, but it also failed to produce recent results. The lack of a warm-up match also did not help predict how they would enter the competition, whereas Saudi Arabia performed, albeit against lesser teams.
This match could go a variety of ways. With more than $1.1 million traded in the market, our Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay prediction is still to ride with the more reputable Uruguayan side. “Yes” contracts are selling for $.67 each at the time of writing.
