Gemini prediction markets could soon reach a much wider audience through a new deal with Apex Fintech Solutions. The companies have signed a non-binding letter of intent that would make Gemini the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through Apex's futures commission merchant. Rather than asking brokerage firms to build their own prediction market infrastructure, the proposed setup would give them a ready-made path into the category.
The agreement is still being finalized, but it shows how quickly the prediction market race is changing. Kalshi and Polymarket have helped push event contracts into the mainstream, while Gemini is taking a different route by building infrastructure that other financial platforms can use. Distribution could become just as important as having a popular consumer app.
Gemini Wants to Be Behind the Scenes Too
Under the proposed arrangement, brokerages using Apex could offer crypto event contracts while Gemini Titan handles execution and clearing. An FCM, or futures commission merchant, is a regulated firm that handles customer orders and funds for futures and other derivatives. In simpler terms, Apex can provide the connection to brokerage clients while Gemini supplies much of the machinery needed to make the contracts work.
The exclusivity applies specifically to crypto event contracts. Apex would still have flexibility to work with Gemini on sports, economics, and financial-market contracts on a non-exclusive basis. That leaves room for the relationship to expand without locking Apex into Gemini across every prediction market category. Key pieces of the proposed partnership include:
- Gemini Titan becoming Apex's exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts
- Gemini handling execution and clearing
- Apex distributing the products through its FCM to brokerage clients
- Other event contract categories remaining open to non-exclusive collaboration
Gemini Has Been Building Toward This
Gemini already has much of the regulatory infrastructure required to support the arrangement. Gemini Titan received a Designated Contract Market license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in December 2025. Gemini Olympus followed with a Derivatives Clearing Organization license in April, allowing the company to bring clearing and settlement in-house.
That setup separates Gemini from companies simply adding prediction markets through another exchange. CEO Tyler Winklevoss said the company believes "predictions are the future of markets," and the Apex relationship gives Gemini a way to put that strategy in front of users who may never open the Gemini app. The two companies already work together, with Apex Clearing Corporation serving as custodian and clearing broker for Gemini's commission-free stock trading offering launched in July.
Prediction Market Distribution is the Bigger Story
The interesting part isn't another company offering event contracts. It is how Gemini plans to distribute them. A brokerage using Apex could potentially add crypto prediction markets without building a direct connection to a separate exchange from scratch.
That approach could make prediction markets feel increasingly like another product sitting alongside stocks, futures, and other financial instruments. Gemini gets access to a broader network of potential users, while Apex can offer its brokerage clients another product without requiring them to build the underlying infrastructure themselves.
The Trade Handle Prediction Markets Take
We have watched prediction market companies compete heavily over products, liquidity, and users, but infrastructure is becoming another major battleground. Gemini appears to see an opportunity to become more than a destination for trading event contracts. It wants to become part of the infrastructure that lets other financial companies offer them too.
The Apex agreement is not final yet, so work remains. If completed, though, it could give Gemini a valuable distribution channel for its crypto event contracts while putting its CFTC-regulated exchange and clearing operation to work behind other brokerage platforms. That could be a much bigger opportunity than simply fighting for another download in an increasingly crowded prediction market app race.
