Kalshi Adds Midterm Elections Hub to Prediction Markets

Kalshi released a new online hub dedicated to the midterm elections on Wednesday, highlighting probabilities from its prediction markets, fundraising data, and historical election data.

The “Midterms Hub” includes information and markets related to races for the Senate, the House, and governors across the country. Traders can directly engage with Kalshi prediction markets in the hub, making it easier for them to buy and sell their preferred contracts.

Kalshi creates election hub

The all-encompassing hub is meant to be a landing page for not only traders, but campaign staff, researchers, journalists and media, and individuals with a registered interest in the midterm elections.

“Prediction markets don’t care about spin or partisanship,” Kalshi CEO and co-founder Tarek Mansour said in a statement. “They cut through polarization and show you what the wisdom of the crowds actually believes, backed by real money, not rhetoric. That kind of clarity is rare right now and that’s what people are getting with the Midterms Hub.”

Midterms Hub will include polling data aggregated by independent news outlet VoteHub. Fundraising information will come directly from the Federal Election Commission, along with the other features.

Kalshi organized an event in Washington D.C., featuring political strategists and a live demonstration of the hub to commemorate its launch.

A strategic maneuver

Kalshi and Mansour have consistently argued that prediction market data is more telling than polling numbers. The platform already has data-sharing partnerships with CNN, CNBC, and FOX News/FOX Business, which highlight Kalshi’s real-time market data during live broadcasts and in various graphics.

Creating the Midterms Hub is another significant investment in the political world. By creating this layout for users, Kalshi is positioning itself to become one of the leading authorities during election season, even for users who don’t directly engage with its prediction markets.

As an example of prediction markets that are available to users, Kalshi’s market data at the time of writing shows that Democrats have an 82% chance of winning the U.S. House; activist James Fishback has a 51% chance of receiving at least 1% of votes in the Florida Republican Governor primary; and Sen. Mitch McConnell only has a 17% chance of resigning before the midterms.

All of these markets include options for customers to purchase “Yes” and “No” outcomes for future events. Winning contracts pay the full amount, and losing contracts do not offer a payout. Users can also trade purchased contracts with other consumers at any time until the market settles.

States still fighting prediction markets

As election season approaches, Kalshi is still facing strong pushback at the state level.

The Wisconsin Election Commission informed locals on Tuesday that trading at prediction markets in which they vote is illegal and would disqualify their ballots.

“With prediction markets and online gambling platforms growing in popularity, the Wisconsin Elections Commission is warning voters: if you bet on an election – it could cost you your vote,” the commission wrote.

Kalshi scoffed at the declaration, writing on X (Twitter) that Wisconsin had no right to strip voting rights from citizens engaging in legal trading.

“The Wisconsin Elections Commission should retract this guidance before courts are required to force them to do so,”  Robert DeNault, the company’s head of enforcement and legal counsel, wrote.

The Trade Handle Prediction Markets Take

Kalshi recently launched a co-branded FIFA World Cup hub with ADI Predictstreet, the tournament’s official partner. It appears as if Kalshi is drawing on the success of its World Cup prediction markets, which prediction market analytics company Ticker Tracker says generated $40 billion in total notional trading volume. Elections were the lifeblood of prediction markets before sports entered the picture, and the upcoming elections should be very popular with traders.
