World Cup Predictions: June 21 Schedule, Probabilities & Picks

World Cup prediction markets are lighting up ahead of today's upcoming matches, and we put together our best picks and prediction for all of the games.

The once-every-four-year tournament has been anything but disappointing thus far. The stars have come out in full force, while underdog nations have earned global acclaim for their performances on the biggest stage.

Our World Cup predictions when a perfect 4-0 yesterday. With another eight nations ready for their second matchday in the Group Stage, these are our best World Cup prediction market picks for Sunday.

Spain vs. Saudi Arabia Prediction

Spain was sluggish out of the blocks, logging a shocking goalless draw against Cape Verde to begin its tournament. The reigning European champions are prolific moving forward and solid in defense, and they never seemed in danger against Cape Verde, despite the result.

Saudi Arabia gave it a real go against Uruguay in its opener, earning a 1-1 draw. However, they were outmatched physically and didn’t have the technical ability to play through the South American defense, losing in expected goals (.66-1.72) and possession (33-67%).

Spain’s surprising draw was likely a one-off performance, and they are the best pick to win today.

Belgium vs. Iran Prediction

Belgium scored its first World Cup goal — an own goal  — in an eternity in a 1-1 draw against Egypt on the last matchday. They produced a solid performance, but this is their worst squad in over a decade, and they just haven’t been able to produce their best moments when it matters the most.

Iran grabbed a 2-2 draw with New Zealand in a game that was highly contested in the midfield, but was open in both teams’ defense. The Persians don’t have outstanding quality and want to rely on their defense, but they are susceptible to counterattacks when they turn the ball over.

Belgium’s disappointing World Cup history is troubling, but they should win today.

Uruguay vs. Cape Verde Prediction

Uruguay was the better team in the 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia, although it lost or drew five straight matches dating back to Oct. 2025. Marcelo Bielsa wouldn’t have been my choice for a cup manager since his ultra–aggressive system creates just as many mistakes as it does opportunities.

Cape Verde is the heartwarming story of the competition for what it did against Spain. But to be totally fair, it only generated 0.2 expected goals in that match and never really got a foot on the ball, and it earned its point from a brilliant performance by its 40-year-old goalkeeper.

Uruguay has much more talent and brutal aggression, which should lead to a win.

New Zealand vs. Egypt Prediction

New Zealand didn’t do much of note in its 2-2 draw against Iran, which, for a team of its stature, isn’t a positive. They often utilize a deep block and want to defend as a unit, but at some point, they have to try to take control of games.

Egypt scored early against Belgium and held on for a draw in its opener. It put together solid results recently, including a 0-0 draw with Spain in March, although it also struggled to beat lesser opponents.

With neither team looking that keen on dominating its opponent, a draw is firmly in play here. Taking Egypt not to win presents a safer option, since New Zealand winning or the match finishing as a draw would be graded as a winner.
